The UndocuArt Collective is a DREAM Project Fellowship site with the UCI DREAM Center. The UndocuArt Collective creates events to enhance community growth and expand the creative expression of all students at UCI. Our goal is for students to have a space where they can express themselves creatively without fear of judgment or the need to self-censor. Students may also use this space to destress and form new friendships. All students are welcome at UndocuArt Collective events.

Our events focus on different art mediums. These art mediums could mention themes and topics that our fellows choose. Some examples include clay crafts, painting, zine-making, and sewing crafts.

zines

Not From Here Or There Zine is a collaborative zine created by UCI students. The theme of the zine featured students reflecting on their emotions, experiences, and feelings during the 2024 – 2025 school year.

This zine began as a part of a partnership with the Scholars In Residence graduate student team to foster year-long mentorship and encourage self-publishing. Through the help of the Scholars in Residence, the UndocuArt Collective created zine workshops introducing zine-making to students. Fellows were in charge of creating and designing the zine and executing a launch party event.

Our event collaborator featured the UCI Special Collections, who provided event attendees with a special look into the UCI archives. Through this partnership, the UndocuArt Collective was able to archive the Not From Here Or There Zine.

To provide students a place to destress, the UndocuArt collective hosts community events such as Paint n’ Sip events. These events featured themed activities such as painting, networking and film watch-a-longs and group discussions. The UndocuArt Collective team’s goal in creating these themed events is to create an open space where students can build community through art.

Stitched with Affection was a Valentine themed event created for students to explore their crafting skills through felt crafts. Students were able to create felt crafts such as heart envelopes, heart felt key chains, and felt flowers. Students were able to take liberty in choosing to make their own felt crafts or follow instructions made by the fellows to help them in their crafting journey.
